the rock climbing centre for the ariège pyrenees

The climate is typical of a continental region without
being too extreme. Summer temperatures peak at about 28C.
When the sun shines, as it often does, you will be climbing
in shorts and T-shirt whether in January or July. In January you choose
rocks exposed to the sun and in July, the shaded ones.
Out of the sun in the winter it can be very cold so it
is important to have clothes for all temperatures. There is a local expression;
"in the Ariege you should dress like an onion", layers to be
shed or put on as appropriate.
A major bonus is that it is seldom windy so even at low
air temperatures climbing is comfortable.
