4 sites, 350 routes from 3c - 8c and from 15 - 250m.
Calamès (pronounced exactly as written) is the most
notable site in this guide and one of the most important in the Ariège.
A great winter site with 220 south facing routes for all tastes.
Auzat:
4 sites, 220 routes from 2a - 8a and from 7 - 1500m.
This well shaded granite site is popular in the summer
and the larger number of easier grades make it appealing to beginners.
At a higher level, there are 6 long mountain routes in magnificent surroundings.
Le Plantaurel:
9 sites with 350 routes from 2a - 8b and from 3 - 100m.
This pre-Pyrenean limestone ridge presents a number of varied and interesting sites.
Routes are generally short and steep and can be climbed at all times of year although some sites are to be avoided in the heat of summer
Le Quié de Sinsat:
6 sites, 300 routes from 3a - 8a from 15 - 400m.
Le Quié is a huge limestone massif of outstanding cliffs
offering all styles of climbing.
The guide takes in a number of smaller but none the less
pleasant sites in the Aston valley.
Climbing is possible at all times of year.
Orlu:
7 sites, 200 routes from 3c - 7c and from 10 - 1500m.
The outstanding Granite tooth (La Dent d'Orlu) with 50 long routes some over 1000m is a highlight of region.
Around La Dent there are a number of interesting smaller sites of all types including an excellent bouldering area (separate guide).
